Nevada License Renewal Requirements

Nevada educators may renew eligible licenses by completing 90 clock hours of continuing education, 6 semester credits, or a combination of clock hours and semester credits during their licensure period.

Our courses are offered in 1-, 2-, and 3-semester course options:

• 1-semester course = 15 professional development hours
• 2-semester course = 30 professional development hours
• 3-semester course = 45 professional development hours

You can take one course or combine multiple courses to earn the number of professional development hours you need for license renewal.

For example, two 3-semester Happy Teacher courses provide 90 professional development hours.

Which Registration Option Should I Choose?

I Need Professional Development Hours for Nevada License Renewal

Because Happy Teacher Professional Development is a Nevada Department of Education Approved Professional Development Provider, graduate credit is not required if you are taking our courses solely to earn professional development hours for Nevada license renewal.

After completing your course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion documenting your professional development hours. Nevada educators are responsible for submitting the required documentation for license renewal.

I Need Graduate Credit for Salary Advancement

If you are taking a course for salary advancement, lane movement, or another district requirement, please check with your school district or employer before registering to confirm what type of credit or professional development they accept.

Nevada Department of Education approval confirms that Happy Teacher courses qualify for individual educator licensure renewal hours, but each school district or employer determines its own requirements for salary advancement.

If your district requires graduate-level credit, select one of our Course + Graduate Level Credit options when registering.

Happy Teacher partners with HLC-accredited universities, including Upper Iowa University and Adams State University, to offer graduate-level credit.

Happy Teacher’s Science of Reading coursework is approved for general Nevada professional development clock hours for licensure renewal. However, it is not approved to fulfill Nevada’s specific mandatory Science of Reading professional development requirements under Senate Bill 460.
