Course Description

With an increasing number of classrooms going one-to-one with devices, educators need to harness the power of technology for creating engaging, effective, and personalized learning experiences. Google Hyperdocs are a transformative tool that can customize learning for each student’s strengths, needs, skills, and interests and differentiate every lesson.

Created by Lisa Highfill, Kelly Hilton, and Sarah Landis, Hyperdocs are more than just digitized worksheets. They embody a shift towards student-centered, inquiry-driven learning, combining the best of Google Apps with sound pedagogical strategies. Rooted in the principles of exploration, creativity, and reflection, Hyperdocs empower students to take charge of their learning journey, weaving digital literacy seamlessly into the curriculum.

This graduate-level course guides educators into the foundational theory behind Hyperdocs, best practices, and a hands-on journey of crafting their own digital lessons tailored to their students’ needs. Teachers then use this knowledge to teach their students how to use these powerful tools.

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Understand core principles and theories underscoring individual student needs and differentiation, optimizing student learning
  • Enhance teacher effectiveness by evaluating a wide range of templates and resource
  • Analyze the seven sections of a Google Hyperdoc and Google Apps that address each transformative tool
  • Create a hyperdoc that incorporates the 4 C’s of 21st Century Skills and meets national standards in their content area
